Legal and help index
Privacy, threats, fraud, property and family law

How to use this index

  • Identify whether the issue is privacy, a threat, fraud, property or family law.
  • Find the likely law and the situation it covers; do not rely only on second-hand summaries.
  • Build a timeline and evidence list before consulting a lawyer or 12348.
  • Call 110 first if there is an immediate risk to safety.
  • This page does not replace a lawyer or predict the outcome of a specific case.

This index groups common issues under privacy, threats, fraud, property and family law. It is designed to help you find the right questions and official channels, not to decide your case.

Laws change and their application depends on the facts. The entries below are general information, not legal advice. Check the current text in the official National Laws and Regulations Database before relying on a provision.

Privacy and personal information

Secret filming, sharing intimate images, publishing an address or phone number, and obtaining account information without consent can create civil, administrative and criminal exposure.

Preserve the publication page, account details and original files. Ask the platform to remove the content and report to the police. Do not retaliate by publishing the other person's private information.

Threats, harassment and extortion

A demand for money or a meeting combined with a threat to expose private information may go beyond a relationship dispute.

Prioritise safety, preserve the evidence and contact the police. Do not pay for deletion and do not meet alone to negotiate.

Fraud and online fraud

Fake identities, fake projects, upfront fees and investment apps that block withdrawals may amount to fraud or telecom and online fraud.

The important questions are where the money went, whether anything real was delivered, and whether you were repeatedly induced to pay more.

Gifts, loans and shared property

Whether a transfer is a gift, a loan, a business payment or living expenses depends on the chats, the relationship, the amount and the flow of funds. A transfer note alone is rarely enough.

For large gifts, shared marital property or cohabitation disputes, consult a lawyer early. Do not create a new loan note or edit records after the dispute begins.

Marriage, family and cohabitation

Labels such as mistress or homewrecker are moral judgments, not legal categories. The legal questions concern marriage status, property, cohabitation and evidence.

Specific rights depend on the facts. A court will look at the marriage, the source of the assets, the shared life and the available proof.

How to check a legal citation

Before relying on a provision, check the name of the law, whether it is currently in force and what the actual text says. Do not rely on a screenshot or a social-media summary.

If you are unsure whether a law applies, organise the facts and evidence first, then ask a lawyer or 12348.
